Meeting Minutes August 30, 2007
MINUTES FROM SPECIAL MEETING AUG. 3O, 2007
VILLAGE OF CERRO GORDO
A special meeting was held on Aug. 30, 2007 in the Municipal
Building to discuss the TIF Ordinance, a fire truck muster,
guttering for the Municipal Building, the fair grounds, and
increase in water rates. The meeting was called to order at 7:00
P.M. Those present include: President Jim Morgan, Trustees Brad
Williams, Lyle Shoraga, Rod Forbes, Carol Huff, Ron Price, Mike
Songer, and Clerk Linda Ash.
The Ordinance for the TIF to hold a meeting for public input was
presented. A correction will be made to change the place for the
meeting from the VFW to the Masonic Hall. Motion to approve the
Ordinance was made by Trustee Williams, Second Shoraga. Roll
call votes: Trustees Williams, yea, Shoraga, Yea, Forbes, yea,
Huff, yea, Price, nay, Songer, yea.
The Fire District will be sponsoring a truck muster on Oct. 6
for Fire Prevention Week. The Department would like to close the
main street of town at 3:00 so the trucks can get set up. The
kick-off will be at 6:00 and Rep. Chapin Rose will speak at
7:00. The department would also like permission to have a fire
pit on the commons area as they will have a cook-out for the
community. There will be a band for entertainment and they will
play from 6-9 or 10:00. Motion to approve the Fire Departments
plan was made by Trustee Williams, second Songer, all yeas.
Notices concerning the TIF will be sent out next week by Mr.
Schuering’s office. There was some discussion on the Shambaugh
property in regards to infrastructure and subdivisions. The
possible cost to get water mains to the area could be well over
$351,000. Engineer Dave Happ presented a preliminary drawing of
water and sewer lines for a possible subdivision. There appears
to be enough fall where a lift station would not be needed for
the sewer line.
An estimate of $3000 for a sewer tap was given from Burdick for
proposed sewer services for Ridgeway’s property and Carnahan's.
The Village cannot give any money now for improvements but can
reimburse individuals after the TIF is in place.
Guttering for the Municipal building-the Board received a bid
from Tri County for 63 foot of guttering, 2 downspouts in color
of their choice-white or brown-for $1978. Motion to approve bid
made by Trustee Williams, second Songer, all yeas.
Fair Board-Complaints on trailers at the fair. These trailers
are used for storage and also act as sound barriers for
activities at the Fair. Acting as a spokesman was Jerry Morris.
He would like the Board to recommend a special use permit or
change in the Ordinance. Trustee Forbes recommends a special use
permit. The Board will work with the attorney on this issue.
They would also like to see some sidewalks at that end of town.
Water Rates
The Water Committee met and suggests that the Board raise the
water rates from $4.00 per thousand gals to $4.70 per thousand
gallons. The sewer rate will remain the same. This will raise
the minimum water from $13.50 to $14.20 and the total minimum
from $18.80 to $19.50 There has been no increase in water rates
since 2002. For a town our size, the Village has low rates.
Motion to approve rate increase as outlined made by Trustee
Williams, second Price, all yeas. This will become effective
with the October billing.
Motion to adjourn at 7:30 made by Trustee Huff, second Songer,
all yeas.
