Minutes for the Village of Cerro Gordo
November 2, 2009
A special meeting was held on Nov. 2, 2009 for the
purpose of drainage and signing the golf cart ordinance.
The following members were present: Mayor Lyle Shoraga,
Trustees Brad Williams, Dennis Ridgeway, Mick Tirpak,
Ron Price, and Shamarie Allen. Also present was Clerk
Linda Ash.
Tom Overmyer was at the meeting and gave a report on the
drainage project for the southeast section of town. To
follow the natural flow of drainage for this area, the
option if open drainage or field tiles. The major
property owners like the underground tile as opposed to
open drainage. There are several outlet options. Tom
suggests the next step is configurations, outlets, and
costs. A lot of the cost will depend on the type of pipe
laid, whether concrete or field tile, level of
protection-as to drain the area in a matter of hours
versus days. The placement of a retention pond is
important. Also it would be wise for the Village to
place restrictions on the tile such as add on's, or have
the property owners responsible for up-sizing. The board
feels it is ready for the next step and a motion was
made by Trustee Williams for Tom to complete the project
and provide the board with some figures for the next
meeting. Second by Trustee Tirpak, all yeas.
New Business
The finance committee thinks it is a good idea to use a
collection agency to help out on some outstanding water
bills. It will be up to the water committee as to whom
to serve a notice on. Motion to authorize Midwest Credit
to act as a collection agency for the Village made by
Trustee Ridgeway, Williams, all yeas.
Golf cart ordinance-changes includes time of
operation(10:30pm), and modification. Motion to approve
Trustee Ridgeway, Price, all yeas.
A motion was made by Trustee Williams, second Ridgeway,
all yeas to move to closed session at 7:26pm for the
purpose of discussing possible purchase of property.
Regular session resumes at 7:36. Monroe Street in front
of school has several holes in it due to amount of
traffic pulling up in front of the school. They have
been filled in. Motion to adjourn at 7:42 pm made by
Trustee Price, second Tirpak, all yeas.
