Special Meeting
Nov. 30, 2009
A special meeting was held on Nov. 30, 2009 at 231 East
South Street. Those in attendance were: Mayor Lyle
Shoraga, Trustees Brad Williams, Mick Tirpak, Ron Price,
Dennis Ridgeway, Dick Seitz, and Shamarie Allen. Also in
attendance were P.C. Pat Carter, D.P.W. Rob Bratton, and
acting clerk Cris Perry.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00.
Public Forum
Cliff Martin-asked to record the meeting so he could
review what the board said about drainage. Trustee
Tirpak suggested a grade cut would be the answer. Talk
with Rob and he will check into doing this. He also
wanted to know if it is the homeowners responsibility to
remove snow from the sidewalk. The board said yes it
was.
Habitat for Humanity member Dick Buckley presented a
certificate to Rob and Mark, along with the Village for
their help in clearing the property on S. Washington for
Habitat for Humanity. The habitat committee is looking
at two years before building in Cerro Gordo, hopefully
sooner if funding and volunteers are available.
Old Business
No additional information on the old Edwards plant, Tif,
or drainage. Adams Street property: Chief Carter is set
to post a letter of abatement on the property and send a
certified letter to the owner.
New Business
Mayor Shoraga accepted the resignation of Dick Seitz
from the zoning board as he is now a trustee. Mayor
Shoraga nominated Jerry Shively for that position.
Motion made by Trustee Seitz, second Williams, all yeas.
He will serve until 2016.
The four-way stop ordinance for the location of Madison
and South Street was brought to the board with the
objective to slow down traffic on South Street. Section
8.202 of the Ordinance-part B: Number 7 was added as the
intersection of Madison and South Street. The board
talked about adding another 4-way stop at the
intersection of Jefferson and South Street. This
intersection has children crossing before and after
school.
Number 8 was added as intersection of Jefferson and
South Street. Motion to create two 4-way stops made by
Trustee Williams, second Tirpak, all yeas.
Trustee Allen talked about moving the weeping willow
tree on the commons area. The Board suggests she contact
Harold Martin for a price.
Trustee Price is meeting with the owner of the apartment
complex on South Jefferson Street on Dec. 2nd concerning
off street parking for his tenants. He suggests that the
Village could assist in moving rock to the other side
for all off street parking. The Village will also look
into posting no-parking signs in that area.
Mayor Shoraga also announced the C.I.M.O.A. Meeting for
December will be held on Dec. 17th. Dinner is at 6:30
and reservations will need to be sent in by Dec. 10th.
Contact Lyle or Clerk Ash if interested. The meeting
will be held in Rantoul at the reindeer ranch.
No further business came before the board and the
mmeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
