ORDINANCE NO. 414
BE
IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
1. No officials, either elected or appointed, nor any employee of the Village, shall use their status to make any purchase of goods or services for non-Village purposes under the guise of making said purchase for Village purposes and thereby obtaining a discount or preference and also causing avoidance of any retailer’s taxes for which the Village would otherwise be exempt as an Illinois Municipal Corporation;
2. The Village shall not pay for any of said purchases noted in Paragraph 1. above even though reimbursement is offered by said officials or employees;
3. No officials, either elected or appointed, nor any employee of the Village shall receive, personally, any discount or inducement from any Village supplier or vendor offered as an incentive for Village patronage. Any inducement or “free” merchandise so received shall become the property of the Village;
4. Since it is not uncommon for suppliers or vendors to distribute promotional items of a diminutive value or nature, such as hats, calendars, pins, etc., the Village Board of Trustees, at its discretion, may allow said officials or employees to retain such diminutive items personally, except in no event shall said items have a retail value of more than $10.00;
5. In the event said officers or employees violate any of the provisions under this Ordinance, the penalty shall be forfeiture of office, dismissal from Village employment, or a fine of not less than $200.00 nor more than $500.00 or both of said penalties; and
6. This Ordinance shall be published in the News-Record which is a newspaper published weekly in the Village of Cerro Gordo and shall take effect ten (10) days after said publication.
PRESENTED, PASSED AND APPROVED this 20th day of December, 1993, at which meeting 6 Trustees were present and the vote was 6 “Yeas” and 0 “Nays”.
